#MikeOnScene New Music Alert: Papoose, DJ XO, and the NerveDJs Plug-In

#MikeOnScene New Music Alert: Papoose, DJ XO, and the NerveDJs Plug-In I hit the blog today to talk about an incredible night of networking and music that proves the legacy and future of our culture is vibrant! This opportunity came via The NerveDJs Bi-Weekly Zoom Meet & Greet on Tuesday, September 23rd at 7 pm, hosted by BIG HEFF, CHIE MONEY & OG DJ JOHNNY O. I'm not a Nerve DJ, but I'm proud to be a longtime supporter of their work. My connection with Big Heff runs deep—all the way back to my 2015 live events and radio days with Phil Cleveland aka @djwhobeta on Instagram, long before the #MikeOnScene and Mike Tree Media came through. It’s always dope to see that kind of rooted connection keep things moving. 1. Houston Culture and the Unstoppable Support We heard from DJ XO, Multi-Platinum producer for Summer Walker and many more, who put it simply: his success is straight up Houston culture. He talked about the genuine support, the sound, and the scene that fueled his career. That energy was infectious—other DJs immediately noticed that strong H-Town vibe in the visuals for the track "Love Somebody." Here’s the undeniable energy that's sweeping the scene. See the video for yourself: Go follow the artist on Instagram: [@xonosleep](https://www.instagram.com/xonosleep/) 2. Brooklyn's Call to Action: Saving Hip Hop Next, the conversation shifted to two legendary Brooklyn heavyweights, Papoose and Busta Rhymes, and their new lead single, "Counting Green." Papoose made a bold statement: he wants to "save hip hop" and, as two Brooklyn natives, they have the rooted legacy to create that call to action. "Counting Green" has that classic East Coast sound but it’s going viral on Instagram thanks to that iconic "hundreds, hundreds, and 50s," sample from Baby Joker in the Ice Cube Friday franchise. That’s how you blend the legacy with modern relevance. Check out the video here: What a night of insight! It just goes to show you that whether it's the cultural support of Houston or the powerful legacy of Brooklyn, authentic roots are what truly drive the creative world. #MikeOnScene: Where authenticity meets impact.
